Artspace's mission is to create, foster, and preserve affordable and sustainable space for artists and arts organizations. Artspace partners with artists and local stakeholders to develop safe, permanently affordable buildings that often feature residential live/work units paired with community space. These spaces offer affordable housing in which creatives can live and raise families; develop and grow artistic practices; engage with the public through community events and programming; and expand social capital and wealth-building opportunities. Studies have shown that our projects have built communities that are safer, culturally rich, and with expanding economic opportunity, without displacing current residents.
